Satamatics upgrades all-in-one tracker as it hits 50,000 sales

Satamatics, the UK-based asset tracking specialist that uses satellites for communication as well as GPS positioning, has upgraded its SAT-201 all-in-one tracking unit just as it reaches 50,000 sales of the underlying range.

The latest version incorporates an enhanced chipset that is said to allow for more scripting and the delivery of more accurate and reliable GPS data.

All SAT-201 terminals are also now IsatM2M-ready (this is the replacement for the current Inmarsat D+ system). Satamatics says this means end users will experience an enhanced service with faster data forwarding rates, quicker responses to polling requests and shorter time to first transmission over a broad range of applications.

The compact SAT-201 unit is said to be naturally suited to covert installation. It is robust and suitable for use in many harsh environments including the defence, maritime and transport market sectors. The SAT-201 is fully configurable and programmable locally or over the air.

The unit is used in various Satamatics solutions such as LandTrack and SSAS solution Ocean Alert.

Last September The Sunday Times placed Satamatics in the Microsoft Tech Track 100 listings for the second year running. Its sales grew by 65 per cent a year, from $8.3M in 2004 to $16.2M in 2006.
