Cybit takes over German telematics supplier
Acquisitive British-based telematics specialist Cybit has brought yet another significant player into its fold, this time on the Continent, where it has taken over Truck24, a leading German-based company with a presence in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and a reported portfolio of 200 customers and 3,300 installed units. The Truck24 product is based round a touch-screen driver unit, and is said to be suitable for full integration with logistics operations. In addition to extending its market presence, Cybit says the acquisition strengthens its technological footprint, notably in areas such as CANbus engine management integration and digital tachographs. Cybit says that following the acquisition, it has what it terms a customer community of over 1,700, and that approaching 70,000 mobile assets are now tracked by Cybit Group hardware and software solutions. Cybit has made a major telematics acquisition almost every year since 2002. Other acquired companies include Amatics, Bluefinger and the telematics operations of Thales.
