Convertible Toughbook 19 gets Core Duo treatment
One of Panasonic's distinctive swivel-screen laptop/tablet convertible PCs, the Toughbook 19, has received the same upgrade treatment as its fellow-model, the Toughbook 30 - which means it has gained Intel's Core Duo processor technology, as well as expanded memory capabilities. Other features of the new version include a 1.06GHz processor with 533MHz Front-Side Bus, and 1GB of SDRAM as standard, expandable to 4GB. The hard disk is an 80GB shock-mounted and user-removable model, and there's also an optional external USB 'combo' drive. You can also get an optional integrated GPS receiver and optional integrated 2MP camera with 5 ft LED flash. The display is a 10.4in 1024 x 768 (XGA) transmissive touch screen, with daylight-readable TFT active matrix LCD. Wireless networking via Wi-Fi Link (802.11a/b/g) and Bluetooth v2 come as standard. Ruggedness has been testing using MIL-STD-810F methodology, and is said to include resistance to drops from 36in, and environmental protection is to IP54 standard.
